McDougall Park
Community Kindergarten

“Children learn as they play.
Most importantly, in play children learn how to learn.”

-O. Fred Donaldson

McDougall Park Community Kindergarten is a purpose-built facility nestled in a delightful, natural setting. We understand the importance of play and offer children a secure and safe environment to explore and engage in the most natural and effective learning tool: play.

Learning through play

No pressure. Great resources. Spaces to run, to create and to imagine. A mystery room. A fairy garden. A treehouse, a river, an island.

For more than 50 years, McDougall Park Community Kindergarten has been providing children the opportunity to explore and take risks, to create, grow and make mistakes (both the kids and their parents), to make friends, to learn and to play. Our play-centered approach and our community structure makes for a magical first year of schooling.

Our kindy

We have an incredible purpose-built facility just for the kindy kids, meaning that there are opportunities to be indoor and outdoor all day long. Our open-plan kindy room was completely renovated in 2019 and has inviting spaces for play, reading, music, arts and crafts and special visits, while the beloved mystery room offers ever-changing surprises. Outside we have a treehouse, a new playground built in 2020, Mosey Island (completed in 2021), a fairy garden, flower and veggie gardens and a very popular bike path. Our covered veranda and leafy setting means that the kindy kids can — rain or shine — play outside every day, immersing themselves in nature as they learn through play.
